In my last blog I mentioned equipment for living and we'll get to play with the idea again in this one. We've seen the movie industry play into and off of the fears of the public time and time again, yet sometimes the scenarios that play out in fantasy equips us for life in reality... if only what not to do.
The movie "In Time"( In Time trailer ), starring Justin Timberlake, looks kinda lame as far as action entertainment, lacking the "Baysplosions" of the Transformers Trilogy. However, the ideological premise of the plot splashes down in the deep end of my mental pool. This film asks the question: what does the base do when the superstructure is no longer hoarding money, resources or luxuries but life itself? We've reached a point in medical science where it isn't too far off to imagine the possibility of removing an aging gene. Here's this week's medical marvel: A woman born deaf hears for the first time with a hearing aid. So happy for you Sloan!
This film may never become a classic, but it certainly flares up the fire that has always been burning between the classes, which is relevant to the U.S. right now with the wall street protests going on. (Occupation of Wall Street by Protesters) Will it offer us a solution to the age old problem other than revolt, redistribution of wealth and starting the cycle all over again? Probably not, but we'll see what insight it has to offer upon release.
